1.       Sky Blue 6 (21/11)

2.       Gray 4 (21/15)

3.       Orange 4 (19/19)

4.       Black 2 (20/24)

5.       Red 2 (13/17)

6.       Yellow 1 (15/23)

Team Black and Team Red got their first wins last night, John Matchock got to play 3 times and played a big part in his goalie role for team Black and Sky Blue last night.  See below for the rest:

Red 8  Orange 3

Jeff Wehner thought he would be able to play for team Red last night, but was an unexpected no show.  Zach Foradori and Jake Kline filled in to round out enough for a team (Noah, Gaydosh, Peach, Foradori, Jake with Henry in net).  Noah Kline led the way offensively for his team with 4 goals, including 3 in the first period to set the tone for Team Red.  Troy Gaydosh put the exclamation point on the game with 2, 3rd period goals.  He also scored a 2nd period goal on a cross feed from Noah.  Jake Kline had a goal as well in his fill in role.

Black 9  Yellow 7

Imagine chasing Andy and Zac Gray around the rink?   Team yellow did their best for a while.  With all the missing players this season, we have people willing to fill in and play more when needed. While that’s normally a good thing, it wasn’t the most ideal situation for yellow to chase both Andy and Zac Gray around for an entire game.  It was definitely a good game as it went back and forth the whole way until black gained enough cushion late in the 3rd period.  Corey Bassett set Andy up for an insurance goal late in the 3rd period to put the game away.  Andy did a good job of getting his teammates involved throughout the game and led the way offensively with goals.  Larry had 3 goals for team yellow while Fred and Vinnie contributed goals as well.  Each team now has at least a point in the standings after 3 weeks.

Sky Blue 7  Gray 6

Bubba has played a role in sky blue’s first 2 wins, but he was not able to goalie for his team last night.   Following the game, Bob Anderson and team Gray probably wish John Matchock would not have been in net for Sky Blue last night.  It looked like gray may be at an advantage considering it was Matchock’s 3rd game in a row, but he was more in a groove than tired as the game went on.  Bob Anderson scored 2 goals early for gray to put them up 2-0, but Blue answered with 2 to end the first period.  Cody Haag scored 3 goals on the night including one in the first period to put Blue on the board.  Tyler Waltman added a power play goal for blue to close out the first period.  He would later score an important insurance goal late in the 3rd period to put Blue up 7-5.  Anthony Schuckers scored a couple 2nd period goals including a late goal to put Blue up 5-4.  Bob Anderson scored  a couple quick goals in the 2nd period which tied the game up at 4 until Anthony had a late 2nd period breakaway.  Cory Schuckers and Steve Hetrick would each score 3rd period goals to close the gap to a goal, but Matchock would not let Gray score the important tying goal.  Bob Anderson and Brian Anderson each had high quality shots turned down late in the game by their Colonials and Interim Healthcare teammate in the closing minute.  Cory Schuckers also had a couple good shots turned down in that closing minute.  Zach Smith and Trent were both missing for Gray last night, which opened up the door for Fred Terwilliger to reunite with his normal teammates for a game.   It was a fun back and forth game for each team.  Sky Blue is now 3-0 on the season while gray fell to 2 and 1.

Cody Haag (Sky Blue)

1. You played a big part in your teams win last night. How nice was it to be at the right place at the right time on 3 different occasions last night? I am not very good at ball/puck handling but if I can get the ball in front of the net I can usually find a few garbage goals. It is nice to play on a team where everyone can handle the ball so I can just stay in front of the net!

2. This game went back and forth the whole way. How enjoyable was it? . It was fun to play in! I'm glad I was able to support the team with a couple of goals and get the win!

3. What kind of expectations do you have for this team going forward as you are still unbeaten at 3-0? I think this team could win it all! If our top players show up every week and chris keeps playing like he has I think we could win it all!

4. Matchock filled in net last night and made a couple big saves late. How do you think he did in filling in for Bubba last night? He did a great job! Match played fantastic and helped us out a few times

5. Do you hope to put a team together for the upcoming xhl season in January? Would I like to put together a team, yes. It is another team and has more people playing hockey. I know last year the team was frustrated playing against higher skilled teams as last year our team was young and really didn't have a ball carrier.

Henry Sutter (Red)

1. 8-3 win for red last night. What can you say about the overall team effort in the win? We needed a win to get back on track. I missed last week, but I heard it was as rough as the first. The effort has been good, so getting a result to go our way was huge

2. Noah led the way but had some help from Troy in the goal scoring department. What have you observed from Troy in the couple years he has been playing in these leagues? This is the first time I've gotten to play a season with him, and it's a lot better than having to face him. He plays a smart game and has a good shot. He and Noah will build chemistry as the season goes, and they'll be a formidable duo.

3. Orange has a solid squad. How do you think you guys did trying to keep up with them, in particular, Zac Gray? They brought a ton of speed and energy all game long. We did well in matching their intensity. This was my first time playing against Zac, and his speed was impressive to say the least.

4. You have 2 chances to win tomorrow night against blue (in the Brockway league). How important do you think it will be to win that first game so a 2nd game isn’t necessary?  I like the opportunity we've given ourselves. Needing to win one of two is better than one and done. That said, the first game is crucial. We play great hockey when we get rolling, so a good start is essential.

5. SRHL ended in disappointing fashion for you guys after such a good regular season. What do you think went wrong for you guys in the playoffs? I was off my game. I was in a slump from mid June until a few weeks ago, and I shoulder a lot of the blame for the season fizzling out. It's hard to win games when you can't trust the goalie behind you, and I couldn't find my game. I like the way I'm playing right now, and I hope that slump is far behind me going forward.

John Matchock (Skater for orange, goalie for black and sky blue on Monday)

1. 3 games last night. How are you feeling today? I feel pretty good. Drank a a lot of water last night.

2. It looked like you found your stride in the 3rd game last night. How confident were you as that game went on? Surprisingly not bad. Guys kept everyone to the outside pretty much.

3. You played a part in black’s first win of the season last night as well. How would you describe the overall team effort in the win? They kept the pressure on most of the game. A good offense is a good defense.

4. Foradori and Bassett were present for black. What did you observe from them that helped put the team over the top? They brought speed and Zach with his shot.

5. The cowboys fell 47-9 to the lions last week. With you being the optimistic person that you are, what encouragement did you take out of that loss? Brandon Aubrey is good kicker.
